What We Believe

Four Winds Church Building

God is our Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are equal and are one.

Jesus is God’s Son and one with His Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin and death, and ascended to Heaven. We look forward to His return and make it our goal to please Him and to be like Him.

The Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and the Son of God. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation in Jesus Christ. He provides the Christian with the spiritual power to live a Holy life. He endows Christians, as He wills, with gifts for building up the church.

The Bible is God’s Holy Word. We affirm that the Bible is the inspired word of God, written by human hands, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the living word of truth for every generation and hold the standards for all ethical and moral decisions in life.

Salvation is God’s free gift and ours to accept. We can never make up for our sin through self-improvements or good works. Salvation is given in our surrender to Jesus through faith. Only by trusting in Jesus as God’s offer of grace can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. Because of grace, we are theoretically made “perfect” and then begin the process of spiritual growth by the Holy Spirit.

Baptism is a public demonstration of our desire to put our faith in Jesus and show others that we want to be like Him. We believe baptism does not earn salvation. Rather, it is an obedient faith response to God’s grace as demonstrated in Christ’s sacrifice.

The Church is God’s family of saved people. We are to be “Christians only” and believe that no particular group, in name or sign, is designated by God as “the only Christians”. We seek only to be a church with Christ as our head. We are committed to unity in the essentials, freedom in matters of opinion, and love in all things.

The Lord’s Supper is a memorial feast which we commemorate weekly to remember, proclaim and celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ as the central event of history and the sole source of hope for our salvation. God demonstrated His love, His holiness and His grace through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ.

Evangelism is a way of life. A major priority is to seek and save the lost and to restore the unchurched. Our evangelistic emphasis will not be confined to distant places. God has granted a rich mission field here in our own community. We expect that many will come to know Christ at Four Winds. We celebrate the continuous work of God in every life.

Governance. Our church is led by the Holy Spirit who directs our shepherds that have been selected by the congregation. In addition, servant leaders are selected to serve for specific tasks.
